TBCG Environmental Advocates Blog Contest

The Canadian Environmental Law Foundation is holding a blog writing contest for the next generation of environmental advocates.

Open to current students or recent graduates of a post-secondary program in Canada, participants are asked to answer the question “What systemic changes are needed to ensure equitable community engagement in environmental decision-making?”.

The Canadian Environmental Law Foundation is the charitable arm of Canadian Environmental Law Association (CELA). This blog contest is made possible thanks to support from the Tremaine-Britannia Citizens Group (TBCG),  a community group active in the 1970’s that raised funds to oppose the use of lands known as Site F in rural Milton. In the decades following the landfill site dispute the TBCG continued to maintain a bank account, the interest from which was used on a yearly basis to fund an award for adult  learners in Milton who were returning to school. The funds from that account were turned over to the Canadian Environmental Law Association with the same intention in mind: that the community can benefit and become stronger through education and recognition of the need for responsible land use.
